Stretching is probably the most hated part of most body building workouts. Many body builders feel that they are naturally too tight and that it can be somewhat painful. Many experts say that even though stretching doesn’t provide you with certain fitness hormones like HGH, it does make the body ready for exercises that do.
Other workout enthusiasts say that stretching should be apart of any fitness program including lifting weights. Stretching programs like Yoga are even said to reduce cholesterol and reverse hardening of the arteries.
Did you ever have sore muscles after a great workout and wonder why?
There are a lot of body builders that choose eating mainly proteins, carbs, and fats as a way to stop muscle soreness. Some use ice, massage or rest to reduce inflammation and to minimize soreness.
In the case of muscle soreness, stretching may be good for preventing injuries before workouts. Warming up the muscles before and after lifting weights may improve flexibility and reduce muscle pain. However, stretching with a recent injury can aggravate the problem so may not be safe to do.
MAX OT is another weight concept program using heavy weight in low repetitions. The idea is to warm up without tiring out the muscles. This theory states that you should warm up to lifting your working weight by starting at 50% of your regular reps and build up to 93% using the method below with period of rest inbetween. This concept says to start with 50% for 10 reps for 2-minutes, then 67% for 6 reps for 3-minutes, 82% for three reps for 2-minutes and 93% for 1 rep for 2-minutes. Finally you will build up to your full weights lifted amount.
